1950'S Teddy Girls
Teddy Girls (also known as Judies)were a group of women who dressed like 1950’s Teddy boys, a rebelling Britishyouth culture gang who wore Edwardian styled drape jackets, smart drainpipetrousers, tailored shirts and Gibson shoes with crepe soles also known asbrothel creepers. They fully embraced the American rock ‘n’ roll music that hitBritain, they were known for drinking, vandalism and violence towards other youthgroups. There was no set uniform for the girls as there were for the boys, thepencil skirt was popular paired with the only thing that all teddy girls had towear, pointed kitten heels known as ‘winkle pickers’. I’m really inspired bythe teddy girl style. I also think it was a really brave style to adapt aswomen didn’t really have a voice in the 50’s and were expected to wear prettyfloral dresses that synched in at the waist.
